Amazon has obtained wholesale pharmacy licenses in 12 states, and has become a wholesale distributor for several pharmaceutical boards.
The 12 states include: Nevada, Arizona, North Dakota, Louisiana, Alabama, New Jersey, Michigan, Connecticut, Idaho, New Hampshire, Oregon, and Tennessee.
Pharmacy stocks, including CVS, Walgreens Boots Alliance, Rite Aid, and Express Scripts, were all negatively impacted by this news. Stock prices for these companies decreased by 3% to 7%.
