Being able to grace the September issue of any fashion magazine, let alone Vogue is a high honor. The issue for September is the highest selling and signifies the changing of the seasons, between Spring and Summer fashion to Fall and Winter. As such, devout followers of style see the month as the time of the year to reinvent themselves. The year of 2018 is ushering in a year of change with a historic amount of black women being featured on the cover of several publications for the coming month.
One of the landmark achievements has been Rihanna starring on the cover of British Vogue as the first black woman to be on the cover in its 102 years of publications. In addition, this particular issue is their most lavish one yet, with 400+ pages serving as a dedicated style guide. Her cover look was unconventional, yet dramatic and beautiful, a perfect match for Bad Gal Riri. She wears a headpiece adorned with deep florals of blue, red, pink, and purple, and sports a theatrical pencil-thin brow look, with other photos in her spread showing her displaying a variety of different flowery headpieces. Another large draw of the makeup look was the deep glossy, almost ombre lip. The cover visual is nothing short of iconic and has inspired a number of influencers and fans to recreate the look.
