The above images are pictures of the Yao women of Huangluo village in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. These beautiful women currently hold the world record for "The World's Longest Hair Village." As soon as I saw a picture of their hair, a cloud of jealousy took over me and my mind was like “WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?!?!” As I continued reading the article, I found that their magic potion is fermented rice water. After rinsing rice, the water is fermented, mixed with tea seeds and ginger then used as shampoo. First off, where do people come up with these things? Secondly, why have they been keeping this secret for so long?! Just selfish. The rest of the world could be slaying too! The weave industry would definitely die out but we would save a lot of money on ordering our hair from china. Buuuut obesity would probably rise because of all the rice being made. People aren’t going to just rinse good rice and not eat it.
I want to do a little more research on rice water and its benefits. I feel like their hair success is due to genetics. It is no secret that black people have a different texture of hair. Our hair is thick, curly, and naturally dry, contrary to the women pictured above. Other extraneous variables to consider in this situation could be health, climate, and the quality of food consumed. Before I am a complete believer in magic rice water shampoo and go to rehab for my weave addiction, I will need some proof. If any black people have tried this, let me know! I want to slay too!!
