Morgan Freeman, turning 81 today, is under investigation for sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior. He seems to think there is nothing wrong with the way he behaves given his age. As of today, there have been sixteen women who have come forward to CNN. Eight of those women are victims and the other eight are witnesses. One of the accusers is Chloe Melas.
Chloe Melas is an entertainment reporter for CNN in New York City. She also co-wrote this investigation against Morgan Freeman. She claims that when she was six months pregnant, Freeman looked at her up and down before saying to her how he wished he was there. This made her highly uncomfortable that she tried to file a claim against him at her place of work, but it received no attention – then. She knew that if Freeman could make a pregnant woman, such as herself, feel violated – there might be other women she could track down that experienced the same thing she did.
Since the investigation, Freeman released a statement in attempts to explain his actions and clear his name from being associated with assaulting women: “I admit that I am someone who feels a need to try to make women – and men – feel appreciated and at ease around me. As a part of that, I would often try to joke with and compliment women… clearly I was not always coming across the way I intended… but I also want to be clear: I did not assault women."
