Demi Lovato Treated for a Possible Overdose

Demi Lovato Treated for a Possible Overdose

Demi Lovato was rushed from her home in Hollywood Hills to a hospital in LA due to a drug overdose. Law enforcement sources had informed TMZ that Demi was treated with Narcan at her home, an emergency treatment for opioid overdoses. She is currently awake and with her family and asking for privacy as she recovers. She was to appear on a pre-tapped episode of Beat Shazam on Tuesday night, but Fox pulled the episode after hearing about her overdose hospitalization. Demi’s concert in Atlantic City, New Jersey on July 26 has reportedly also been canceled.

Back in March, Demi had posted to Twitter celebrating 6 years of sobriety. Although in June she had released her single “Sober” about relapsing: “Momma, I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore /And daddy, please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor / To the ones who never left me/ We’ve been down this road before / I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore” she sings with disappointing reflection during the chorus.

Demi Lovato’s representative gave a statement to Entertainment Tonight saying, “Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect, and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.” In light of this statement, TMZ backtracked a part of their story that claimed Demi overdosed on Heroin. A source close to Demi argued that her overdose was not due to heroin in any way.
