Watermelon is an ancient fruit with more benefits than I ever expected. Watermelon is a fruit that grows on a vine-like flowering plant native to Southern Africa. It was cultivated in the Nile River Valley, in Egypt, and eventually in China, roughly 1,000 years ago.
Some key benefits among the numerous benefits of watermelon:
Over 90 percent of a watermelon is water. Therefore, it keeps you hydrated and saves people in hot regions from heat stroke.
Watermelon, because of its water and fiber content, helps to prevent constipation and promote regularity for a healthy digestive tract.
Watermelon is thought to improve conditions including asthma, cancer, and inflammation
When younger, I remember my mum always buying watermelon, she said it was the best fruit until I grew older to research or stumble onto the benefits. Though I wasn’t a believer, I am glad she introduced a love for this amazing fruit to my diet.
I currently have watermelon filling up my fridge and I had some watermelons today, so go get yours!
