Smashbox has partnered with augmented reality developer ModiFace on an eye tracking technology that can detect a person's interest in buying a product based on how long they look at the product image and other eye movements. The app will suggest similar products and offer discounts to encourage customers to buy.
This technology is even able to tell the difference between real interest and a false positive. Google and Facebook have also invested in eye tracking technology, but consumers have to agree to allow apps to use the tech before it will work.
