My Celebrity Grandma on Beauty: Celebrity Mother's Day Special Edition

Happy Mother’s Day!

This Mother’s Day Weekend, I thought I’d focus on some women we know very well. Celebrity ladies are always fun to follow for their style tips, business growth ideas and even beauty and hair fashion. Today I wanted to focus on Mother’s Day and how these celebrities’ moms may have inspired them to be the great giants they are to us in beauty and in fashion.

I’ve personally curated my style, my love for beauty, my fierceness (when needed) around Oprah, Kerry, Iman, J-Lo, and the offspring of Tina Knowles. So, I found it interesting to hear a quick thought of what their mommies taught them. In some way (can I weirdly say) their moms to me would be like my celebrity grandma – in my head? ☺ Maybe.

But until I figure out how we are all related – in my head, here are just 5 that I chose from Allure’s article on Celebrity Mom Beauty Lessons:

Jennifer Lopez

"My mom taught me discipline and a work ethic. She didn't put a lot of emphasis on physical beauty. It was always about the person that you were. To be a good girl was the thing. That has stayed with me my whole life."

Iman

"She always said character will take you farther than looks. And education, especially when you're from a third-world country — education, education, education."

Oprah Winfrey

"I wouldn't say my mother taught me. I would say life taught me, I would say being raised in Mississippi by my grandmother taught me."

Kerry Washington

"I think the big thing is that my mom is brilliant and she always really kept the focus on the beautification of your mind and spirit, and the rest will come."

Tina Knowles-Lawson

"My mother taught me that beauty was more important on the inside. As far as glamour goes, just be as glamorous as you can. You can't be too glamorous. And, yes, I tried to impart that to my children. First of all, I tell them all the time that beauty comes from within, which sounds like a cliché, but it's the truest thing ever. And just to have fun and wear what they like and be free."

Happy Mother's Day!
