Urban Hydration Hair: Our 3 Core Ingredients and Their Benefits

Urban Hydration Hair: Our 3 Core Ingredients and Their Benefits

As you may know by now, our new haircare line is now available on our website and at select Sally Beauty locations! We’ve briefly mentioned our core ingredients—or triple threat as we like to call it—but now we’re going to break those ingredients down and explain exactly why we included them in all of our hair products. We worked hard to choose the perfect, natural ingredients that would hydrate and promote healthy hair, and here’s why we chose our triple threat. We want you to love them as much as we do!

Argan Oil

You’ve probably heard of it, but what is it exactly? Argan Oil comes from the kernels of the Moroccan Argan tree and has been used since 600 BC for healing wounds and boosting cell production. It is rich in Vitamin E, linoleic acid and omega-6 fatty acids, so this oil comes with a world of benefits, the obvious one being a moisturizing agent for the hair and scalp. Externally, Argan Oil adds natural shine and softness to your hair, while helping to eliminate dandruff that lurks underneath the surface, as well as fighting frizz and split ends. Vitamin E also means antioxidants, which are great for boosting overall hair health and growth, even offering restoration to previously damaged and chemically-treated hair. It’s obvious why we would include this ingredient in every hair product.

Coconut Oil

This is not the first you’ve heard from us about this ingredient, and it certainly won’t be the last. We can’t say enough good things about this oil, and here’s why: much like Argan Oil, Coconut Oil contains natural fats that help it absorb quickly into the scalp and hair, keeping dandruff and frizz at bay. Similarly, the proteins in it promote hair growth and help repair damage. Not only does Coconut Oil provide your hair with proteins, but it also, according to a study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science, out performs sunflower oil and mineral oil because it is the only oil that reduces protein loss. It's also completely safe for your children and isn't harmful if ingested. A slightly less glamourous but practical benefit of Coconut Oil is that it also prevents lice, which is never a bad thing. Because this ingredient is so helpful and essential, we include it in all of our skin care products as well and have made it our “icon” at Urban Hydration. Avocado Oil

Our next ingredient to complete the trifecta is one that comes from a tasty household fruit. The Avocado is not only delicious, but it also produces an oil that is packed with Vitamins A, E, D, and B, along with antioxidants and monounsaturated fats. We discussed the benefits of fats and antioxidants—adding moisture, softness, and shine to your hair—but the extra number of vitamins in this particular oil offers some unique benefits. All of these vitamins are essential in promoting hair growth and actually preventing hair loss! The hair can easily get worn down and stripped of its nutrients—excessive heat or cold, chemicals, etc. contribute to vitamin deficiency and damage. However, the team of vitamins in Avocado Oil sink in to your scalp and hair strands, preventing hair loss and damage from top to bottom. These 3 core ingredients have got you covered when it comes to locking in moisture, shine, and promoting healthier hair!
